Burtukaana

Collected from 149 smallholder farmers near the Goro Bedessa drying station in West Guji, each growing Heirloom varieties alongside 74110 and 74112 sub-varieties on farms of 2-3 hectares. The importer uses the Oromiffa word "Burtukaana", meaning orange, to describe this flavour profile: round, citric, stone fruit, good structure. It's a useful shorthand for what's in the cup.

2350 masl

The station sits at 2,350 masl in Hambela Wamena Woreda, high even by Ethiopian standards, and a significant factor in the cup quality here. Cherries are harvested December to January and go straight onto drying tables after handpicking, spending around 15 days on the beds before a further three weeks in a ventilated brick warehouse to stabilise.
