Poás Volcano
Volcán Azul sits on the slopes of Poás Volcano in Costa Rica’s West Valley, the country’s most prominent coffee-growing region. The mountainous landscape and Pacific weather patterns create well-defined dry and wet seasons, and most coffees here are grown under shade on fertile clay soil. Alejo’s family has been farming this land for five generations with a consistent focus on quality, and have been buying and protecting natural tropical forest alongside the farms as their contribution to conservation.

Gesha
Gesha is one of the more demanding varieties to grow well, but at these altitudes and in these conditions it thrives. Originally from Ethiopia, it has become one of the most sought-after varieties in specialty coffee for its distinctive floral, tea-like, and stone fruit character. Volcán Azul grow it alongside their other varieties, and the care and precision that runs through the whole operation shows in the cup.

New harvest
We had this coffee last season and it was one of the standouts of our range. This is the new harvest arriving fresh, and if last year is anything to go by, it will not disappoint.
